Experimental analysis and damage modeling of the shear-out failure mode of a 3D woven composite lug

This study focuses on the shear-out failure mode of a 3D-woven composite lug. The damage scenario leading to is analyzed based tensile test lug shown be driven by matrix damages generated in-plane shear. No yarn observed. A model proposed capture combines Onera Damage Model for Polymer Matrix Composite (ODM-PMC) with Mazars-like evolution law. special attention paid transition between both laws, in order ensure continuity evolution. implemented into commercial Abaqus Standard finite element (FE) software. 3D FE analysis performed. simulation able reproduce load plateau observed global behavior as well specific patterns.
